Pakistan just legalized crypto. Now every exchange needs OTPs.

March 3, 2026. Pakistan's Senate passed the Virtual Assets Bill. Crypto is now legal. Regulated. Licensed. 

Here's what this means for SMS providers:

Every licensed VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) must now implement:

• Customer authentication

• Transaction verification

• Withdrawal confirmations

• Login security

All require OTPs.

Pakistan already has 4+ major mobile operators (Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone). The State Bank and SECP are watching. Compliance isn't optional—it's the license to operate.

And the same day? PTA warned: no VAS activation without explicit OTP consent. 

The message is clear:

• Crypto exchanges need verification SMS

• Users must explicitly consent

• Channels must be compliant
